How a cord strap joint works

Thread. Tension. Lock.

A wire buckle closes woven strap by friction, with no seal and no crimping tool. Clips and seals close PET, PP and steel strap with a crimp. Three steps either way.

Wire buckles

Matched woven and composite strap systems; other strap types on request

A tensioner only. No seal, no crimping tool.

Schematic, not to scale: strap, wire buckle and crossbar.
  1. Thread

Pass the strap around the load, through the buckle and back through the second slot.

  2. Tension

Pull the free end tight with a cord strap tensioner.

  3. Lock

Release the tool. The load pulls the strap against the crossbar and the joint locks by friction. No seal or crimping tool needed.

Sheet metal clips

PET and PP strap

A tensioner and a crimping tool.

  1. Overlap

Overlap the two strap ends inside the clip.

  2. Tension

Pull the strap tight with a tensioner.

  3. Crimp

Close the clip with a crimping tool to lock the joint.

Steel seals

Steel strap

A steel strap tensioner and a sealer.

  1. Overlap

Overlap the steel strap ends inside the seal.

  2. Tension

Tension the strap with a steel strap tensioner.

  3. Crimp

Crimp the seal with a sealer to lock the joint.

A check mark identifies a potential pairing, not universal compatibility or a load rating. Confirm strap material, grade, width and thickness; buckle or seal geometry and finish; tensioning or crimping tool; and tested joint performance for the actual load. PET and PP use with wire buckles requires a specifically validated combination. Woven and PET strap supply is on request.
